MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- For the ninth time in 32 races, qualifying was canceled due to weather and the field lined up on car owner points.

The 12 Chase drivers breathed a collective sigh of relief, because that enables them to have their pick of pit stalls on Martinsville's super-tight pit road.

... By the way you've run in the races before this, you've earned this right to have that pit stall.

Point leader Jimmie Johnson will line up first on Sunday and will have the first pit stall. Johnson leads the Chase drivers with an average finish of 6.0 in 13 starts, with four victories, nine top-five and 12 top-10 finishes and 1,006 laps led.

"Truthfully, you've earned that right [to the first pit stall]," Johnson said. "The difference is bigger here than anywhere else we run, so by the way you've run in the races before this, you've earned this right to have that pit stall."

Jeff Burton, racing on home turf in his native Virginia, will start second, and he has won here once, in 1997. Half of his 28 starts have ended in top-10 finishes, with 10 in the top five, and his finishing average of 14.5 is dead in the middle of the Chase drivers in sixth.

Greg Biffle, who will line up third on Sunday, has not seen Martinsville be very good to him over the years, with a single seventh-place finish to his credit in 11 starts. His average finish of 23.6 is last among Chasers by more than four spots. He's led six laps in those 11 starts.

Carl Edwards is another driver who has not had a lot of success at Martinsville. In eight starts here, his best finish is ninth earlier this year, and that's the only top-10 he has. His average finish is 19.1, and that's 11th among the 12 Chase drivers. He has not led a lap here, but he does start fourth on Sunday.

Clint Bowyer will start on the inside of the third row in fifth on Sunday, and in five starts, Bowyer has a pair of top-10s. The best was ninth in this race last year, and he averages a 15th-place finish over those five starts. Bowyer also has not yet led a lap at Martinsville.

Kevin Harvick has five top-10 finishes in 14 starts, and has finished seventh twice for his best efforts. Harvick will line up outside teammate Bowyer in sixth on Sunday. His average finish is 18.8, 10th among Chasers just ahead of the Roush Fenway teammates.

Tony Stewart will line up on the inside of the fourth row in seventh, and he's had a lot of success here in the last few seasons, leading 847 laps in the last eight races. He's won twice here in 19 starts, with three poles, seven top-five and 11 top-10 finishes. His average finish is a fourth-best 11.9, and he's led 1,193 laps, second only to Jeff Gordon.

Gordon, who will start just outside of Stewart in eighth, averages a victory at Martinsville every 4.4 starts (seven of 31), and he's overdue. His last victory here came in this race back in 2005, five races ago. How good has he been here? Try 19 top-five and 25 top-10 finishes in those 31 starts. His average finish of 7.0 would lead at most places, but it's a full spot behind Johnson's 6.0.

Kyle Busch will line up on the inside of row five in ninth, and he's another Chaser with not a lot of experience here, but he's done better than Biffle and Edwards. In seven starts, Busch has three top-five and four top-10 finishes, with a pair of fourth-place runs as his best efforts. His average finish of 16.7 is ninth among the Chasers.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., coming off a blown tire at Lowe's Motor Speedway, sits 10th in points and will line up there on Sunday. He's been solid at Martinsville, with seven top-five and eight top-10 showings in 17 starts. He's finished third twice, though the last time he did it was in 2004. He's led 758 laps, and his average finish of 14.3 is fifth among the Chase drivers.

Matt Kenseth, caught up in another crash at Lowe's and 11th in the points, will line up on the inside of the sixth row Sunday. He's been good at times here, logging five top-10s in 17 starts, including a runner-up finish back in 2002. He has a top-five and two top-10s in the last three races. Kenseth is eighth among Chasers at 16.5 in terms of average finish.

Denny Hamlin, the other native Virginian in the Chase, will start 12th on Sunday, and he won the race here in March. In six starts, Hamlin has a pole, a victory, three top-fives and five top-10s. His average finish after that stretch is a third-best 9.5, and he's led 235 laps in that time.
